The beautiful new Appropriate Music album, by Acres Wild

Acres Wild are one of those bands you keep listening to and never get bored and that you wait anxiously for new music and never get disappointed.

The Norwegian boys make this type of music you don't find anywhere else. Fun, awesome, addictive, with a meaning. The band has already been subject on the blog before: click here.

But their new album Appropriate Music is what we're talking about here today. This new LP is just brilliant. It's more mature than their other materials, but at the same time carries a lot of their character and sound. This LP comprises of 10 tracks and none of them disappointed me. It instantly became my new favorite album of the year.

"Mirrorball Stars"

This is the beginning of Appropriate Music. Huge guitars, synthesizers all over, beautiful voice and lyrics.

"Another Life"

"Another Life" marks a different sound from the previous track. It begins with the drums, then evolves into a stunning guitar guided and super addictive song.

"Lisbon"

Lisbon is not only the capital of sunny Portugal, but also one of Aces Wild's new beauties. Fantastic chord progression, huge synthesizer chords, lead, Real Estate'ish guitar solo, ... everything is so well crafted.

"The Sun Is Shining"

Now it's time to talk about the most awesome of all: The Sun Is Shining. It has everything: charming vocals (Magnus (Acres Wild) and Haley Shea), happy chords, Acres Wild (yes, I mean "Acres Wild", because what's good needs to be highlighted), brass instrumentals, synthesizers, and other amazing things you need to listen to.

"The Periphery"

The Periphery is a true masterpiece. It reminds of Roxy Music. It has beautiful synth instrumentals, stunning guitar chords, ... everything, everything here just sounds so good.

"The Broadcaster"

This track is one of the most interesting among the 10, as it reminds a bit of Madness and quickly turns into a song with the band's character. The highlight of The Broadcaster is the chorus, with it's super sound on the piano and the guitars.

"Counterclockwise"

Strummed guitar, upbeat. It somehow recalls an 80s sound, just like the whole album. Its lyrics carry interesting stories, like this one. We could dedicate a whole article just discussing the lyrics, because they deserve.

"Streets"

Charming guitar playing, vocals, drums. Good is not enough... AWESOME!

"Flashmobs"

Flashmobs instantly recalls the Beach Fossils with its beautifully crafted chorus-layered guitar tone and playing. Another interesting point of this track is the vocals, as there is more than one voice, which gives a feeling of group to the song. Then the guitars at 2:43, recalling the Beach Boys. Just brilliant.

"Nida Beach"

At first I didn't get along very well with this one, but as I've listened more and more carefully to it I began to find the beauty in it. I now love it.

Overall, Appropriate Music is one of the best realeases of this year, especially with the Covid situation, when we need good music to face the storm.
