The Prophet 5 is back!
Yes! Dave Smith, the holy grail of synthesizer design has just announced the reissue of the beloved Prophet-5. How cool is that?
What seemed to be quite unlikely to appear in 2020, one of the worst years of the human race history, has been confirmed by Sequential.
The new Prophet-5 reissue is basically the same beautiful synth from the 80s, but with some additions we have all been begging for. Some have even modded their Prophet-5s with MIDI or whatever. But Dave Smith added a bunch of the good stuff we could dream of in this beast of a synthesizer.
First, he added MIDI and USB. It's one of those things we can't live without nowadays, with the DAW thing.
The Vintage Knob
Second, a "vintage" knob. But... what is this "vintage" knob story about? Well, it's basically a magic knob that enables going back in time throughout the sound of every Prophet-5 edition: Rev. 1, Rev. 2 and Rev. 3. How amazing is this?
The Preset section
400 permanent factory programs, 200 rewritable presets and... the original 40-program set from 1978. Definetly plenty of sounds to play around with.
Overall opinion
This is not good news. This is the best news a synth enthusiast could ask for! Who would imagine that, in 2020, the long asked return of the Prophet-5 would be a dream come true? Thank you, Dave Smith.
