Cut Copy is beautiful In Ghost Colours
In Ghost Colours was released in 2008, on the 22th March, precisely, and is now 11 years old!
The album was made by the Down Under electronic music band Cut Copy, who are considered the New Order revival. It's a masterpiece in the genre, both in terms of lyrics and melodies.
It's the first album of theirs to feature the Prophet 5, the 5-voice synthesizer from the 80s and bassist Ben Browning, turning from trio to a marvelous 4-piece band.
Dan Whitford, the band's lead singer and synthesist, started using the Prophet 08, when the album was released, on tour, due to its Prophet 5 sound vibe, also stating that bringing the Sequential Circuits 5-voice synth was risky.
There are two versions of In Ghost Colours: the regular version, with 15 songs, and the Deluxe version, with two remixes.
The LP starts with the "opening shot" "Feel The Love" and ends with "Eternety One Night Only". In Ghost Colours was shaped by bright and shiny synth sounds, brilliant basslines, guitar, especially in "So Haunted", drums, some sounds from nature and means of transport, like the train track in "Voice in Quartz", and sax, in "Hearts On Fire".
The band has now 5 studio albums, two more after In Ghost Colours (Free Your Mind (2014) and Haiku From Zero (2017))
